How we approach ATS compatibility.
"ATS-friendly" is one of the most over-promised phrases in the resume-builder industry. We want to be honest about what we do, what we don't, and what we are actively working on. If you find anything on this page that doesn't match your real-world experience, please email [email protected] — we treat it as a bug, not feedback.
- Text-extractable PDF export across all templates — our PDFs contain a real text layer (not a rasterised image), so ATS tools and recruiters can copy, search, and parse every field.
- Standard section headings ("Work Experience", "Education", "Skills") — recognised by every major parser.
- Single-column reading flow on Metro, Pulse, Minimal, Professional, Executive, Graduate, Slate, and Atlas. Studio uses a 2-column sidebar — recommended only if you also submit the DOCX export.
- No content trapped in
, text-boxes or footers — these are common ATS parsing failure points.
- Customisable section order so candidates can put the most relevant section near the top.
- DOCX export uses semantic paragraphs and headings, which most modern ATS prefer over PDF.
- Base PDF fonts (Helvetica, Times-Roman) on export — no exotic glyphs that some parsers strip.
- Phone numbers, emails, and URLs rendered as plain text — never as images.
What we are working onAutomated parser conformance tests
PlannedWe are setting up a continuous test that pushes a fixture resume through public parsing APIs (Affinda, Sovren, plus open-source pyresparser) on every release. Results will be published on this page once the suite is live.
Public test reports
PlannedA read-only dashboard listing, per template, the fields each parser successfully extracted from a known fixture (name, email, phone, headline, each experience, each skill). Updated automatically.
Honest disclaimers- We do not claim certification from Greenhouse, Workday, Lever, Taleo, iCIMS, or BambooHR. No such public certification programmes exist for resume builders — anyone who claims otherwise is exaggerating.
- Real-world ATS results depend on the specific configuration each employer uses, the file format you submit, and the parser version in production at the time you applied. We cannot guarantee a specific outcome for any specific employer.
- If a recruiter says your resume didn't parse correctly, email [email protected] with the original file and the role you applied for. We treat parser failures as bugs.
Tips for best results
For maximum compatibility across ATS platforms (Greenhouse, Workday, Lever, Taleo, iCIMS, BambooHR and others), prefer the PDF export for visual fidelity or the DOCX export for the simplest possible parsing path. Both contain real, selectable text — no images of text.
